Who is Jenny Shank?

A writer, reader, and proud representative of Jenkind, who lives for literature, art, music, nature, film, sports, and jokes. She’s the author of the story collection Mixed Company, which won the Colorado Book Award, and the novel The Ringer, which won the High Plains Book Award, and she teaches creative writing at the Mile High MFA and Lighthouse Writers Workshop in Denver. She’s also been a journalist for a long time, covering mainly books, culture, and entertainment.

Her stories, essays, articles and book reviews have appeared in The Atlantic, the Washington Post, The Guardian, the Los Angeles Times, High Country News, Poets & Writers, Dallas Morning News, Prairie Schooner, Alaska Quarterly Review, The Toast, Barrelhouse, The McSweeney's Book of Politics and Musicals, Dear McSweeney's, and Love in the Time of Time’s Up. Her work has been honorably mentioned by The Best American Essays, the Pushcart Prize anthology, and her mother.
